If you wish to explore the wonders of South India but want to avoid the discomfort involved in the usual means of transport between cities, then travelling aboard luxury trains like The Golden Chariot is a great choice. Indian luxury trains have been a great game changer, allowing tourists to travel while availing of the utmost comfort. And The Golden Chariot is considered among the best for travelling in the southern region because of its facilities and well-planned itinerary. You might have even learned about the train from the Golden Chariot National Geographic episode.
From the interior decor to the facilities, everything about the train exudes royalty. Let’s take a peek at the luxury train to see why it’s the best choice for a vacation in South India.
Cabins
Aptly named after the dynasties that once ruled over South India for several centuries, the guest carriages exude opulence with their Hoysala Temple-inspired interiors. There are a total of 44 guest cabins with each carriage having four. We have 13 double-bedded cabins, 30 twin-bedded cabins and one cabin for the differently abled. Each cabin has central air conditioning, ensuite bathrooms with WC, a range of toiletries, hot and cold water supply, complimentary WiFi and a size of 67.5 sq ft (approx 6 sq m).
Restaurants
The luxury train has two restaurant coaches named Nalapaka and Ruchi. Ruchi means taste and the word Nalapaka has its roots in Mahabharata with Nala referring to one of the finest chefs of the era and paka meaning cuisine. Their interiors exude opulence owing to their intricately detailed design. Both restaurants serve an excellent array of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options from a variety of cuisines both Indian and International.
Bar
If the interior inspired by the early 20th century Mysore Palace doesn’t already make you feel like royalty, then the choicest of wines, beers and spirits aboard the aptly named Madira just might. Passengers may take a sip and socialize with fellow travellers while enjoying wondrous views of the landscape from the lap of luxury.
Spa & Fitness Centre
Arogya, the spa cum fitness centre provides travellers with the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate after a day filled with activity and keep up with their fitness routine despite being on a vacation. The name literally means devoid of ailments.
The spa room has two spa tables where you can avail yourself of traditional Indian and modern massage therapies to relax after a day of exploring exciting sites. Our exercise room is equipped with modern fitness machines.
Itineraries
Three well-planned itineraries are offered by The Golden Chariot: Jewels of South, Glimpses of Karnataka and Pride of Karnataka. The latter two focus on the heritage and sceneries of Karnataka while the first takes you to some of the finest monuments and breathtaking sights across three South Indian states.
